About CDFF |
Welcome to the Colleen DeCrane Family Foundation! We are a small family-based organization that was founded in 1999 after our sister Colleen lost her four-year battle with cancer at the age of thirty-three. She was our initial inspiration, and her journey continues to be the guiding principle for which we base our mission – Helping Families Meet Their Daily Needs. Colleen was a true hippie, caring for and supporting the human spirit was important to her. She displayed this through her volunteer work and her beliefs. As our family discussed how we could keep Colleen’s spirit alive, we focused on that spirit of caring. We also focused on the challenges Colleen faced during her illness, and how we could help a family dealing with the same challenges. Our logo, the sea turtle, was chosen because Colleen found that it’s symbolism of health and longevity inspired her. During Colleen’s illness, we witnessed the impact of this disease and the toll it was taking on her as she went through treatment. While medical insurance plays an important role financially, it cannot address the real-life challenges following chemotherapy and radiation, such as the impact on one’s energy, the difficulty of performing everyday tasks, and the ability to continue to care for her two children. Her determination and commitment to getting well were what inspired us and those who knew her. Over the years we have partnered with friends, other local organizations and municipalities to identify those in need. So far, we have been able to distribute over $300,00 in assistance. The CDFF board is made up of family members and friends, who volunteer their time and are not financially compensated. This is key for us as we want to maximize the funds raised so that we can deliver assistance to those who need it most. As we are a small Foundation, we focus on where we can assist to help families get through tough periods in their lives. While it is a small sum individually, it has meant a great deal to those who we have been able to assist. Since 1999 we have been supported by those who believe in our mission. We are thankful for our supporters past present and future, we proud of our longevity, and humbled by what we have been able to achieve thus far. We appreciate your interest in our Foundation and we invite you to be a part of the CDFF family, by donating today, so that we can continue our mission of Helping Families Meet Their Daily Needs. Sincerely, |
